A day at the park

We spend most of Saturday at the park with some good friends. Great weather, great food,  and great company. On the picture the kids are getting ready to head over to the paddling pool. They are situated in an enormous bicycle which is becoming an increasingly popular means of transportation here in Copenhagen. The featured model is the top of the line, though. It costs the same as a smaller car would cost in North America. Unfortunately it doesn’t belong to us.

Sienna, Elliot and Oliver getting ready to go to the paddling pool

This little guy must be on a secret mission!?!

I thought Sienna was developing pretty fast when she started walking the day before she turned 10 months. This little guy is out of control, though. He has been standing up in midair without any kind of support for around a month and yesterday – without any encouragement – he decided to take a few steps on his own. Those were his official first steps and that was yesterday. Today he is tiptoeing around all over the place like it is the most normal thing to be doing when you are only 8½ months old. It must be something in his milk!?!

Here are some pictures from a recent trip to Tivoli. Tivoli is the second oldest amusement park in the world  (the oldest one is a little bit outside of Copenhagen) and it has an amazing atmosphere. It is packed with beautiful flowers and in the night it is lit up with colorful lamps all over the place. I just love going there and since it is within walking distance from our home, we go there quite often. This particular time we were also bringing Bedstefar Carlos (BC) and mormor. For months Sienna had been talking about how she would like to go on a balloon ride (a tiny and very old ferris wheel) and she wanted to bring BC and mormor. BC was slightly frightened by the ordeal so Sienna held on to him real tight during the entire ride (and fortunately he made it through alive).

Cousin Latimer

Sienna’s cousin Latimer has been coming to our house ever since he was a toddler (and long before Sienna was born). Sienna has always been very infatuated with him and this infatuation has not faded over the years. And of course Elliot wants to hang with the big and cool kids too. Below they are all impersonating their beloved Bedstefar Carlos’ giant beard.

Sienna got a very nice new bed and Latimer requested to sleep in it with Sienna. Right of the bat it seemed like a bad idea, but I always give them the benefit of the doubt and here they are 15 minutes after I put them to bed. Elliot was very discontent that he did not get to sleep with the big guys, so after a lot of complaining we had to take him out and put him to bed in another room.

Here are some snapshots from our trip to a very nice summerhouse on the Vest coast of Zealand, Denmark. We were there the last week of June (2009) and the weather was unbelievable (for Danish standards, anyhow). Bedstefar Carlos (grandpa Carl) and mormor (grandma Elisabeth) stayed with us for 3 very nice and relaxing days. Jacob and Maibritt stopped by one day for dinner and so did David, Louise and Gabriel.  summerhouse1summerhouse2summerhouse3summerhouse4summerhouse5summerhouse6summerhouse7

Let’s get started…

As most of you know it has been almost 2 years since new pictures were posted on www.naomiramsey.com. A lot has happened since then and I figured that the very first post on this blog should include a project that I am working on, which clearly demonstrates the biggest change in our family (i.e. our newest addition, baby Elliot).

I began this time line right about the time were I fell behind on the uploading of pictures to my site. To be more precise the first picture was taken on July 7, 2007. Those of you who know me well will probably wonder if I made Shawn and Sienna get up at 7.07am. in order to get the time right too, and as much as I would have liked to be able to say that the picture was shot at 07.07 on 07.07.07, that’s too far of a stretch – even for me (although I do admit to having some crazy ideas about certain numbers, sequels etc.)

Anyway, the subsequent pictures were shot exactly a year apart on July 7, 2008 and 2009 and it is my intention to keep doing this until the end of time (my time anyhow).

10 years down the road I am sure the changes are going to be dramatic. Right now I am just thankful to realize that I look 5 years younger and less like a drug addict moving from 2007 to 2008/2009. Time also seems to have treated Shawn well. It has to be those 10 pounds of kale he consumes every morning?!?

It should be mentioned that there is no fancy styling involved and that the pictures are not photoshopped or anything like that. This is just what we looked like on a normal day at that time.
